Belfast Charity Moves to New Premises for Community Growth

Belfast Charity Moves to New Premises for Community Growth

Year to Move

*2024 – We have move to a new premises on the 16 Holywwod Road Belfast.

Reason

Belfast And Lisburn Community Project has grown well over the years. Finally, the time came when older premises could no longer cater to the growing needs of the community. We were faced with water flooding of the premises, charity contents destroyed and the whole premises no longer suitable for our work. Our moving was perhaps the most exciting, yet at the same time one of the most challenging, decisions to make-moving house, but it was sure to be a place that would better serve those we support and offer a more efficient space for volunteers.

Moving to a new premises started with a vision: to accommodate an increasing number of people needing our help, better facilities for our programs, and a location that would be easy to go to for everyone whom we serve. We began brainstorming what needs would be in the new space, a purposely designed space for a Social Supermarket, room for our food storage, and more storage for donations.

Local Business Support

Once we got the ideal new place, which is a fairly spacious building at the opposite side of our old premises which can be easily accessible via public transport, we started the logistics where here we moved. The new premises was a blank slate, full of possibilities, yet needed so many works to be done on it before being used for our program activities. We called on Phil our charity ambassador, The Beam Team and our network of volunteers to help us with everything from cleaning and painting to creating new storage and setting up rooms.

It would have been a truly daunting task but with the full support of The Beam Team and their encouragement, this was made possible. Countless supplies were packed in boxes, planned for months and needed a lot of organisation to ensure that everything would be perfectly running. But thanks to volunteers, donors, and local businesses offering their help, we got to work. We carefully packed each of our supplies from the old location, sorted through donations, and coordinated with movers to transport everything to the new site.

Finally

When the day finally arrived for the move, a thick atmosphere of excitement was settled in the air. Volunteers walked, and people rushed about.

The move wasn’t just about a change of address—it was about growing the charity’s impact and ensuring we could continue to support those in need. In our new home, we’ve been able to expand our programs, host more community events, and provide additional services, all while maintaining the heart of what makes Hope for Tomorrow so special: a place where people can come together to create lasting change.

Looking back after the covid19 pandemic, the lockdown and to 2022 and 2023, the move to a new premises was one of the most significant milestones in the charity’s journey. It wasn’t without its challenges, but the support of our volunteers, donors, and the community made it possible. Today, as we look around our new space, we’re reminded of all the lives we’re able to touch—and the many more we can help in the future.
